Our neighbor to the east, the International Owl Center in Houston, MN, has amazingly hosted two online auctions of Ukrainian youths' owl art, with proceeds benefitting UNICEF, to help Ukrainian children. A third auction is currently live, until April 3. This initiative has turned into a huge success, thanks to the hard work of the Owl Center, and many patrons. Even just browsing the artwork is quite the experience, witnessing the creative artistry of Ukrainian children ages 5-17.
On Thursday, April 7, 2022, at 7pm, our local Sons of Norway Heimbygda Lodge will host a presentation titled, "Thoughts on Eastern Europe." Our Lanesboro Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director will discuss growing up in Poland and his recent visit to Poland in February and March and what he witnessed. This event is free and open to the public with coffee and cookies provided. A free-will donation will be collected and given to a charity helping Ukrainian refugees. Event happens at the Sons of Norway Lodge, 200 Parkway Avenue South, Lanesboro, MN. Parking on the street or at Sylvan Park.
