After the falling of roughly seven inches of snow, everyone is shoveling and plowing in the beautiful winter sun. Today is a picturesque winter scene in Lanesboro with snow-dusted cedars on the bluff, frozen ice on the river, geese at Sylvan Park, a sundog in the sky, and a few bundled-up people heading into lunch at a favorite cafe. Winter at the Cottage House provides a time to slow down a little from the fast-paced previous season and get ready to.......deep clean! Maybe you have a deep-clean list of your own for your house, apartment, or even garage. Our list is 28 years in the making, with new things added and some things removed as each season passes. We still follow the guidance of our original Innkeeper, Marilyn, when it comes to deep cleaning rituals, including cleaning the chrome faucets with toothbrush and vinegar, remembering to dust on top of all of our antique hutches, completing vacuum maintenance, and flipping and vacuuming the mattresses. We have a few big maintenance projects in the works too with some you see (new hall carpet!) and some you may not see (new shingles). Winter's clean white blanket reminds us it is time to enjoy the splendor of nature while getting ready to clean and prepare for guests to visit again in 2022! Happy Winter!
